About Us

Digital when you want it, Human when you need it

We envision our members having the opportunity to happily participate in all aspects of life.

The Mission of the Credit Union is to promote the financial well being of its members.

Our Story

A study group of local people, representing various interests, were concerned about the financial well being of the community in the Coalisland, Stewartstown, Clonoe, Edendork and Newmills areas. They held a series of meetings which resulted in the formation of Coalisland Credit Union Limited in 1963.

From a small beginning with nine members and a shareholding of £45, we have now grown to 12,000 adult and juvenile members and over £33m in shares.

Aims & Objectives

  • To put people before profit - ‘not for profit, not for charity but for service’.
  • To provide a safe and secure means of saving for our members, with a fair return of interest.
  • To provide loans to members for prudent and productive purposes, at an affordable and reasonable rate of interest.
  • To provide loan protection and life savings insurance at no direct cost to the member.
  • To provide security of savings through the Credit Union’s fidelity bond, through the Irish League of Credit Unions’ Savings Protection Scheme and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
  • To provide financial advice to our members.
  • To provide the infrastructure to enable the Credit Union to deliver an efficient member service.
  • To identify and respond to members’ requests for additional services and further improvements.
When you join a credit union you are a member not a customer. This means you are a part owner of the credit union. Members enjoy equal rights to vote (one member, one vote) and participate in decisions affecting the credit union.

GDPR

Coalisland Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information.

On the 25th May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a new Europe-wide data protection regulation came into effect.

The GDPR is a piece of EU legislation which will overhaul our current data protection legislation. It will replace the current data protection laws in the EU and is the biggest change to data protection law for 20 years.

It aims to strengthen and unify data protection for all EU individuals and in some cases those outside of the EU.

It brings with it further obligations for organisations (like your credit union) who process your personal data in order that your personal data is fully respected. Processing is basically doing anything with, even storing, your personal data.
